
Raymond Kai-Yu Tong
Professor Raymond Kai-Yu Tong is a distinguished leader in the field of Biomedical Engineering and has been a Professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) since 2014. He established Hong Kong’s first Biomedical Engineering Department, focusing on innovation, practical applications, and regulatory processes. His contributions to research and education have earned him numerous prestigious accolades, CUHK’s highest teaching honour. His global recognition as one of the Top 10 Global Ageing Influencers, acknowledged by both the industry and Ageing Asia at the World Ageing Festival in Singapore, and his election as a Fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE) in 2022, Best Teacher Award in 2021 and the University Education Award in 2022, underscore his significant impact on the biomedical engineering field. He was also named one of Hong Kong’s Ten Outstanding Young Persons in 2013. He and his team have established three startup companies as co-founder: Mind Control Technology Limited (2017), Hopebotics Ltd (2021), and Hope4Care Ltd (2022).
